The course will culminate in practical implementation of the learned subject matter in clinically realistic hands-on exercises taught by Dr. Baumgaertel on anatomically correct typodonts, including the placement of multiple tomas^®-pins and installation of the biomechanics to treat four clinically relevant indications.
Course outcomes:

At the end of this course participants will be able to

understand proper mini implant design
identify the best insertion sites for different situations
place mini implants with high success rates
load mini implants successfully
minimize side effects
treat a wide variety of indications using orthodontic mini implants

Dr. med. dent. Sebastian Baumgaertel
D.M.D., M.S.D., FRCD (D)
Longmont, Colorado

Dr. Baumgaertel is a Clinical Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where he serves as Director of the sub-speciality clinic for skeletal anchorage and instructor of the orthodontics biomechanics course. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Baumgaertel has lectured worldwide on various orthodontic topics and specifically on mini implantsand Cone Beam Computed Tomography.

He has published multiple scientific articles and serves as a member of the editorial review board of high profile journals such as the “American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics”. Additionally, he is author and co-editor of two text books.

Aside from devoting his time to research and education, he also maintains an active private practice in Longmont, Colorado.

Orthodontic miniscrews have become an important part of modern orthodontics. In this course, Dr. Baumgaertel will teach the treatment concept he developed and redefined over the years, and which, due to its great success rates, has become one of the most widely adopted approaches to orthodontic miniscrew use, worldwide.

In the evening, we invite you to review the eventful day together and end it with delicious food and a cool drink. With a view of the London skyline from the large terrace, we look forward to good conversation and a relaxed atmosphere with you.

The central location also makes it easily accessible and offers excellent public transport links.

Want to see more of London? Join us on a ride on the London Eye and see London’s sights from high above on a 30-minute ride in a gondola reserved for our group.

We will take a short walk to the London Eye and enjoy magica views before walking back together for the evening meal.
